CONTRACTORS

AT WATERLOO, we can write contractors who operate in both the commercial and residential markets.  When working with contractors, we break them down into the following categories:

GENERAL CONTRACTORS

This category consists of businesses that are responsible for the day-to-day oversight of a construction site, management of vendors and trades, and the communication of information to all involved parties throughout the course of a building project.

Depending on the project, general contractors might do a certain percentage of the work themselves but in several cases, they are subcontracting the majority of the work.   No matter the breakdown of work completed in house we can help place the coverage.

This category includes contractors involved with the maintenance, design and construction of both natural and physically built environments, such as roads, railways, buildings, water reservoirs, subdivisions, bridges, sewer systems, tunnels, etc. Projects usually include grading, excavation and demolition, as well as installation of septic tanks and filtration systems, driveways and other utilities. This would also include highway contractors and paving operations.

Examples: Site Work Contractors, Highway Contractors, Paving Contractors, etc.

A trade contractor is essentially a subcontractor that specializes in a specific part of a construction project. These parts can range from electrical and plumbing to painting and site preparation.

The size and scope of trade contractors can vary widely from a few guys working out of a pickup truck to highly complex and sophisticated operations.  No matter the type of trade we can help protect the business as well as implement practices and procedures that can help these contractors operate more efficiently and safely.

Examples: HVAC, Electricians, Mechanical, Framers, Insulation, etc.
